Cleardale is a small neighbourhood to the South of Highland and North of White Oaks. Sometimes, it is considered a part of Highland for city planning and zoning, but Cleardale has so much to offer that it’s worth talking about all on its own!
Unlike Highland, Cleardale is just a little further from commercial hubs at Wellington and Commissioners, but closer to the variety of shopping strips leading down Wellington Road toward White Oaks Mall. This grants it residential privacy while keeping a convenient distance for those who prefer to run errands on foot. Being closer to White Oaks means that Cleardale is even closer to Highway series access, too. Cleardale also has a great dedication to active spaces. The neighbourhood features community attractions like the Earl Nichols Arena and Recreation Centre and the nearby Sky Zone fitness centre on Wharncliffe.
Most of the homes in Cleardale were built in the 80s with a mix of detached properties and row-style townhouses. The detached homes tend to run over $400,000 and the condo units range from the low to high $200,000s.
As for education, the neighbourhood is the home of Cleardale Public school, which students can attend from Kindergarten to Grade 8. After that, students in the public board continue on to London South Collegiate Institute or Sir Wilfrid Laurier. In the Catholic Board, students attend Sir Arthur Carty in White Oaks, then Regina Mundi College for high school. Princess Elizabeth Public School, Sir Wilfred Laurier Secondary School, St. Anthony, and Mother Teresa Secondary all offer French Immersion programs to students living in Cleardale.
