Brantford is a growing southwestern Ontario city that is just off of the Grand River. It is located at the heart of Brant County between the cities of London and Hamilton along the 403 Highway. Brantford is home to a diverse spread of industries, beautiful parks, tons of activities, and an lively community of 97,496 residents and counting!
Brantford is a big enough city to have a large variety of property options available and many new developments popping up all around the city! Like a lot of southwestern Ontario - and especially cities close to the GTHA - Brantford is seeing annual increases in real estate activity and in average sale prices. Many of the city’s older properties are detached, single family homes with both single and multi-storey options. New builds feature mostly detached properties with open floor plans, but also the occasional semi-detached home or modern townhouse. In 2020, Brantford has seen an average sale price across all property types of about $540,000 with detached houses consistently being the most popular. The higher end sees the detached homes and new construction for prices usually exceeding $600,000 while the lower end is older apartment-style condos often for less than $350,000.
Brantford is a busy city, about 35 minutes from Hamilton and right on the edge of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. While Brantford has industry of its own - a variety of manufacturing; film, television, and digital media; and warehousing and distribution - it is not unheard of for commuters to the GTHA to consider Brantford as their home base due to the central 403 access. Brantford has two boards of public education, the Grand Erie District School Board and the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board which have over 35 elementary schools and 7 high schools between them. There are several post-secondary institutions as well. Wilfred Laurier, Six Nations Polytechnic, and Conestoga College all have a Brantford branch campus. The GO bus service further connects Brantford residents with McMaster University in Hamilton. Other features of this great city include numerous community, neighbourhood, and sports parks, recreation facilities, public pools and splash pads, golf courses, conservation areas, and an extensive trail map that connects Brantford to nearby cities on foot! If you are looking for a good-sized southwestern Ontario city that is close to the GTHA, but nowhere near as busy, then Brantford is a standout option. With close proximity to the 403 for commuters, great schools and family-friendly neighbourhoods, and an exciting annual line-up of festivals and activities, Brantford has everything you could ask for and more!
