The Huron Heights area is bounded on the east by Clark Rd., Oxford St. in the south and a path east of Highbury bounded on the north by the Thames River and the Kilally Woods Environmentally Significant Area. The northern part of this land was annexed and join the City of London in 1989.
This district is birthplace to Fanshawe College, one of the largest colleges in Ontario. 14,000 full-time and 40,000 part-time students attend Fanshawe every year. The dominant London campus sits on a 100-acre site with twenty buildings including 3 residents that habitat up to 1,200 students.
The Robarts School for the Deaf is also situated within Huron Heights along the side of Fanshawe College. This school was established in 1973 and is one of only four provincial schools for deaf students in Ontario. The North London Optimist Community Centre, located at Highbury Ave. and Cheapside St., provides indoor gymnasium and community centre space, indoor squash and tennis courts, roller skating and outdoor tennis facilities. Stronach Recreation and Community Centre at 1221 Stanford St., houses a double pad arena, gymnasium and community centre space, an outdoor heated pool with slide and splash pad, 6 baseball diamonds and a skateboard park.
