Best Breakfast in London, Ontario

London has a reputation for many things - its beautiful parks, the Thames river, and vibrant culture - but not typically for the Forest Cities abundance of quality breakfast places. Luckily, this is changing and we've put together a list of the best breakfast in London Ontario

The Early Bird

Located in the heart of London down the street from Budweiser Gardens, this rock’n’roll-inspired, retro-decorated breakfast joint offers a menu as extensive as it is delicious. Open at 9:00 AM seven days a week, one simply cannot go wrong with the GrEggs Benny (smoked brisket, sauerkraut, 1000 island), any of the perogies, or the vanilla waffles with poached apples. But there is one item that is cause for chatter…ladies and gentlemen, the Turducken Club. We will not judge if you need to order a second for later.

Southside Grill

Southside knows what it is, and it excels at it. Casual atmosphere, incredibly friendly staff, and a dynamite breakfast selection. Along with the stellar combo platters offered, be sure to peruse the Skillet options as they are all crowd-pleasers. Visit Southside Grill on Exeter Street right off Highway 401. Breakfast hours are 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM Mon-Fri, and 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (though, for a meager $1 charge breakfast is available all day with the exception of pancakes, waffles, French toast, poached eggs and bennys!)

Plant Matter Kitchen

Located in South London just south of Thames Park, this vegan establishment serves up delectable breakfast classics that any carnivore would devour. Can't-miss items include but surely aren’t limited to, the Spanish Omelette, the Loaded Potato Bowl, and the how-does-something-get-so-fluffy PMK waffles. Ranked the top breakfast in London by TripAdvisor, there is but ONE downside at PMK; breakfast is served only on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. (Oh! head to PMK for lunch or dinner to try the WORLD’S FIRST 100% plant-based burger that “looks, cooks, and satisfies just like ground beef!)

Breakfast in London Ontario

Spare Parts Diner

Husband-and-wife ownership team Matt and Kristin call themselves the food mechanics, and rightfully so, as no hunger problem has gone unsolved in the walls of this East London joint. Portions are known to significant but don’t think for a second that they use that as a crutch. The corned beef and hash are to die for, as is the Western breakfast sandwich on Texas Toast…and we dare you to not finish their crispy home fries. Open at 7:00 AM Mon-Fri, 7:30 Saturday, and closed Sunday.

Edgar and Joe’s

What Edgar and Joe’s may not have in terms of menu quantity, they more than make up for in quality, with a remarkable execution of all breakfast staples. Located in the Soho District at the intersection of Horton St. and Wellington St., only the Eggs Benny, and the Beef Brisket Hash are over $10, yet each bite of anything feels worth $10. The maple crumble takes their French Toast to the heavens, but if your sweet tooth isn’t kicking try the Soho Omelette with ham, mushroom and green onion. Edgar and Joe’s opens at 7:30 AM Mon. – Fri. and 9:00 AM on Sat. – Sun.

Campus Hi-Fi

Campus Hi-Fi is a Richmond Row staple, having survived the area’s constant turnover and upgrading since its opening in 1957. UWO/Fanshaw students and everyday people alike have sworn by Campus Hi-Fi’s outstanding breakfast at friendly prices. The Breakfast Poutine is among London’s best, and Meg’s Ukrainian Breakfast will quite simply leave you speechless. Catch a Campus breakfast starting at 8:00 AM seven days a week, and before 3:00 Mon. – Thu., 6:00 Fri. – Sat., and 5:00 Sun.
