The Empire area refers to a section of the larger Shellard Lane neighbourhood. Empire is south of Shellard Lane road in the eastern part of the neighbourhood.

Empire Brantford

Empire is bound by Shellard Lane to the north, the Veterans Memorial Parkway to the east and Conklin Road to the west. The area extends no further south than the Franklin Grobb Memorial Forest and Duncan Avenue. The residential streets fan out from the forest area in a layered, semi-circular pattern. Houses in Empire are detached, single-family properties on long and narrow lots. Many of the lots still have enough space for a pool in the backyard and a two-car garage and driveway.

The Empire area is mainly residential with a cluster of schools and parks in the northwestern corner. The southeastern corner is dominated by the large Franklin Grobb Memorial Forest which has a connection to Brantford’s network of trails.
